Student Visa (D-2) Application
Students admitted to undergraduate, dual degree, or exchange student programs at Seoul Women’s University must receive the Standard Admission Letter and apply for a Student Visa (D-2) at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate.
Visa Extension
Foreign nationals who wish to continue staying in Korea beyond their permitted period of stay must apply for an Extension of Stay.
Applications must be submitted from 2 months before the expiration date up to the expiration date itself.
A penalty will be imposed if the application is submitted after the expiration of the stay period (Immigration Control Act, Article 25).

Change of Status of Stay(From Language Training Visa D-4 to Student Visa D-2)
Students who complete the Korean Language Program and enter an undergraduate program at Seoul Women’s University must apply for a change of status within the designated period.

Alien Registration

Obligation to Report Change of Residence
Foreign nationals who have completed alien registration must report a change of residence within 14 days from the moving date to the head of the local city/county/district office or the competent Immigration Office/branch office.

Failure to report within 14 days after changing residence may result in a fine of up to KRW 1,000,000 under Article 36 of the Immigration Control Act.

- Change of name, gender, date of birth, or nationality

Part-time Employment Permission for Students (D-2) and Korean Language Trainees (D-4-1)
International students who wish to work part-time during their stay in Korea must obtain permission for “Activities Outside the Status of Stay” from the Immigration Office in advance.
Students must visit the International Affairs Team office and submit the application form at least 5 days before starting part-time work.
Working part-time without permission may result in penalties.

Permission for Change of Part-time Workplace(For Students with D-2 or D-4-1 Visa)
Students must report and obtain approval in advance when changing their part-time workplace.
Extension of Part-time Employment Permission
Students who have received one-year part-time work permission and wish to extend the period may be denied extension if:
- Attendance rate for the most recent completed semester is below 70%
- Academic performance is below average grade C+
- It is determined that balancing work and study is difficult
Important Notice
Under Article 20 of the Immigration Control Act, anyone who engages in activities outside their visa status without permission may be punished under Article 94 with:
- Imprisonment for up to 3 years, or
- A fine of up to KRW 20 million

STEP 03 – Changing to a D-2 Student Visa
Students who enter a university program and wish to change to a D-2 student visa must visit the Immigration Office and complete the visa change before the semester begins.

- One Passport Photo (White background, 3.5cm × 4.5cm, taken within the last 6 months)
- Standard Admission Letter
- Academic Transcript (from the previous institution, e.g., Korean Language Center)

- Final Academic Certificate (e.g., high school diploma)
- Certificate of Bank Balance (minimum balance equivalent to USD 20,000)
