VISA

Exchange students should apply for a student visa (D-2) at the nearest Korean consulate, after receveing the Certificate of Admission issued by Seoul Women’s University. It normally takes 2~4 weeks to obtain a visa.

Alien Registration

- Foreigners who stay in Korea for more than 90 days, are required to register at the immigration office.

- The International Affairs Team will submit all application forms of alien registration card for international students filled out during the orientation.

- Issuing an alien registration card takes approximately 3 weeks.

- Once the International Affairs Team submits all forms, students must visit the Seoul Immigration Office Sejongno Branch to enroll fingerprints. (The team will notify the students with any additional information)

- The International Affairs Team will take all issued alien registration cards at the immigration office for all international students and notify it by e-mail. All international students can get their cards at the International Affairs Team Office.

Part-Time Job

Chest X-RAY Results

Every student entering dormitory must submit Chest X-RAY Results examined within last 3 months.

Precaution:

- Students wishing to work part-time must visit the International Affairs Team and apply at least 10 days prior to start working. Working without permission of the Immigration Office can lead to a fine.

Re-Entry

- If you have a plan to go abroad during your stay in Korea, you must keep your alien registration card at all times for the re-entry.

- Once your plans are finalized, please notify the International Affairs Team.

- Exchange Students can stay up to 15 days after the last day of the semester. If you wish to stay longer, you must contact the Immigration Office and apply for extension.

Dormitory introduction (International Residence Hall)

International Residence Hall provides foreign students with basic residence environment as well as facilities necessary for living so that students can focus on their studies.

Students from different nationalities reside in International Residence Hall, so it is a great opportunity to learn each other's culture and how to live harmoniously. Through cultural interactions and community life, students get to learn to respect others and foreign cultures.

Female exchange or undergraduate students of SWU live in International Residence Hall, but they need to move to Shalom House during breaks.

Dormitory fee

- Semester/International Residence Hall (15 weeks): 992,000won

- Vacation/Shalom House (4weeks/10weeks): 220,000won~367,000won / 551,000won~918,000won

- Entering fee: 20,000won

Chest X-RAY Results

Every student entering dormitory must submit Chest X-RAY Results examined within last 3 months.

Precaution:

- Do not use electric heating appliances (electronic rice cooker, electric pad, etc.) as well as firearm (Your dormitory occupancy will be terminated).

- Non-residents are not allowed (Your dormitory occupancy will be terminated).

- No drinking and / or smoking in the dormitory (Your dormitory occupancy will be terminated).

- Never allowed to use electrothermic product (when caught, you need to move out of dormitory)

- There is a roll call every Monday~thursday at 23:40

- Gosiwon

A goshiwon is a very small room where you pay rent in a monthly basis. Monthly payment is approximately 300,000~500,000won and you need to pay deposit of 50,000~500,000 won

- One-room apartment (studio)

Equipped with basic home appliances such as furniture, refrigerator, washing machine, kitchen, etc. Minimum contract is for at least 6 months, monthly payment is 450,000~600,000won, deposit is 650,000~5,000,000 won.
