Multifunctional Green Campus Master Plan

Seoul Women's University is preparing and gradually implementing a Green Campus Master Plan. As part of this vision, the area around both the main gate and the south gate will become an important part of this new vibrant campus, symbolized by car-free streets and an emphasis on nature. This will be achieved, in part, through the separation of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, the development of a cultural complex in the area around the main gate, and the construction of the 50th-anniversary memorial hall. Areas of the campus featuring lots of classrooms will be managed so as to provide a peaceful and positive environment for students to study in harmony with their surroundings. Additionally, we are expanding the central library to enhance educational support facilities, creating a beautiful and functional campus.

Various Practices for Creating an Eco-Campus

Seoul Women's University has declared the 'Eco-Campus STOP CO2' initiative and is taking the lead in building a low-carbon green society through various practices so as to better respond to the task of climate change. In addition to eco-friendly buildings, we practice methodical recycling, resource efficiency, and energy conservation in daily life. By promoting campus ecosystem improvement projects, we are creating a green campus in which our students can become important leaders and play a proactive role in overcoming the challenges presented by our environment in the years and decades ahead.

Academics

By operating both a student-centered academic system and an open education system, we promote a strong sense of responsibility and passion for learning among those who study with us, thereby increasing their personal and professional worth. The autonomous major system allows students to take a wide variety of different lectures in their first year and then choose the major that they feel best suits them in their second year. This interdisciplinary major system allows students to explore knowledge more freely and deeply engage in the act of learning. We have combined this with an efficient educational system, including a teacher certification acquisition and double major certification to help us foster the talent that will shape society going forward.

Scholarship

We are proud to provide a wide range of scholarships, to those who excel academically as well as to those from disadvantaged backgrounds. There are various internal programs designed to boost morale and create a conducive study environment for all members of our university. Around 45% of enrolled students benefit from scholarships each year, including scholarships for outstanding freshmen, social service and overseas volunteer scholarships, foreign language proficiency scholarships, and the Dream Tree scholarship for students with disabilities. We are continuously increasing the budget to expand the scope of those who we can help.

Student Activities

Student activities are an important part of university life, and we recognize that at Seoul Women’s University. Festivals are held every year, featuring a number of activities and music performances. There are also different club and major activities students can participate in throughout the year, including dance, sports, journalism, and much more. Meanwhile, social service programs allow students to learn to care for others as members of a community.
