About the Major

The Dept. of French Language & Literature aims at extensive and in-depth studies on internationally acknowledged French language and France, which is the center of Western culture. The faculty members focus on teaching French language and basic knowledge and appreciation of French literature. This literature is globally acknowledged for its accuracy, elegance and brilliance, putting it at the center of Western literature and giving insight into a newer and higher dimension of knowledge. Also, students are exposed to the French cultural elements of rationalism and democracy to gain an objective perception of the civil society abroad and of Korean culture and its condition, ultimately to strengthen their potential for cultural creation.
