About the Major

As the center and source of East Asian culture, China has historically maintained close political, economic, and cultural ties with Korea and will continue to develop even closer relationships in the future. It is therefore crucial to understand Chinese culture, recognize its qualities, and promote a mutual understanding. This requires a deep understanding of Chinese language and literature.

The department studies the Chinese language, including conversation, grammar, composition, phonetics, and characters, as well as literature, encompassing classical poetry, prose, drama, novels, scriptures, and modern books. The goal is to produce professionals who can navigate the new international order centered on the Asia-Pacific region in the 21st century.
